Home away from home

"No. I am alright! Just leave my food on the table, Hannah."

She was the girl who topped her class at school. Moreover, she was popular for her friendly behavior with her fellow mates. But, the situation changed upside down when she entered Germany for her dream college!

Eesha was a charming person who easily got along with anyone and everyone while she was down south in India. Yet she faced a contradictory situation in the foreign land with all the strangers around her. Even her roommate Hannah was from England. Again! a foreigner! Despite the language being a barrier, she mostly did not feel the sense of connection that she felt in her homeland. Eesha came to Germany with so many dreams and even when she was able to mingle with all her batch mates, somewhere in the corner of her heart, she felt that she was different from the rest. Constantly she was also having this feeling that she wouldn’t fit along with the natives and remained alienated from them.

One fine day when she returned from college, Eesha was feeling so low that she began crying by locking herself in her room. After a while, “Mam, you’ve got a delivery”, Eesha heard a voice as she got up to refresh herself up and headed towards the main door. When she opened the door, she was struck with amazement to see her classmates standing with bunches of roses and balloons in their hands screaming, “Happy birthday, Eeshaaa!” On the top of their voices! She was totally out of words with tears overflowing from her eyes! “I didn’t expect this from you guys! Also, I never thought I meant this much to you all” was all she said with the happy tears in her eyes. That was the day, Eesha was so happy that she understood that all her friends in Germany were her, “home away from home💓” and they’ve always loved as well as cared for her!
